An early budburst, peak flowering on 20th June, and an excellent ripening season combined to yield a perfect harvest in mid October. This wine was created from our south-east facing Pinot Noir parcels and south facing Amphitheatre Chardonnay each with over 100 days on the vine in the hallmark 2018 vintage. The base wines were created without a malolactic fermentation to preserve freshness and purity, fermented and aged in a combination of traditional oak casks for Chardonnays and stainless steel for Pinot Noirs, each undergoing battonage. The wine was bottled and spent over 48 months aging on lees before disgorgement.

This wine recaptures the spirit of the first flagship Hundred Hills vintage of 2016. A fine balance of fruit and texture, it leads with a subtle smoky note of struck flintstones, then layers of bright and crystalline citrus, lemon through to tangerine, wrapped in creamier notes of yellow melon and tangy apricot. It finishes with a long warm finish of buttery vanilla pastry dusted in cinnamon. This has a core of freshness that gives a great structure to the rich texture and will help to support this wine through many years of further aging.
